"Getting out of my head"

Gospel MT 9:14-15

The disciples of John approached Jesus and said,
“Why do we and the Pharisees fast much,
but your disciples do not fast?”
Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn
as long as the bridegroom is with them?
The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them,
and then they will fast.”
In today's reading, Jesus uses the analogy of a bride and bridegroom to help us understand His relationship to the Church.  Perhaps it paints a good picture for us of the early Church - with Christ the Redeemer finally fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament, it is a time for a new beginning for the Church, a fresh start.  Just as a bride and bridegroom are about to start a new life together, Jesus as bridegroom reminds us of the New Church - a heart-based Church with loving God and each other as the main focus.  I am at my best when I "get out of my head" and into my heart.
